Pikes Peak

America's Mountain
Colorado Springs, Colorado

(719) 385-PEAK or (800) 318-9505

This is not a museum but the actual drive on Pikes Peak.  This is a good way to kill a fews hours or even half-a day.  The 38-mile round trip to the summit takes about two hours, not including time you spend at stops along the way or drive time to the start.  Drive the actual race route!!!  The first hill climb was in 1916 and is still held.  In fact, Pikes Peak is the second oldest auto race in the US (Indy is the oldest).  Gentlemen, start your engines. . . .  PS- Even in Feb we were able to go 15 of the 19 miles.  Only the last 4 were closed.

I haven't been there, but according to the website:  The Gateway Colorado Automobile Museum tells the engaging story about the marvels of automotive history:  30,000 square foot facility houses more than 40 cars in all.
